The Craven Pothole Club welcomes visiting cavers to its two-week summer meet. During the meet, the Estate delegates supervision of access to the system to CPC, and the system is open to visiting cavers during the public week.

Access and booking

The winch to the Main Chamber is a good starting point for non-SRT trips. Cows tails are required to cross Mud Hall, and all cavers must tell the booking-in tent their plans.

Cavers using alternative entrances must sign in and out at the booking-in tent and leave a call-out time.

Rigging and safety

Some alternative entrances will be rigged for SRT during the meet. Ask CPC for advice on routes or entrances if needed.

Only competent cavers with suitable experience, equipment and BCA insurance, or equivalent cover, may use alternative entrances.

You may rig other entrances with your own ropes, but you must tell CPC your plans. Use CPC rigging at your own risk and complete your usual safety checks.

Do not tamper with existing rigging. Report any concerns, including damage, to the booking-in tent.

Descents or ascents directly into the Main Chamber, including Main Shaft, Dihedral and Rat Hole, are not permitted.

Winch use

Anyone using the winch to enter and exit the cave must book online in advance and pay the standard £30 visitor fee.

Anyone who chooses to exit by winch while underground must queue and pay a £10 contribution on exit.
