Following major engineering the new entrance to Cheery Tree Hole is now open.
There is no change to the climb down from the moor into the surface depression, but the new entrance shaft requires 10.5m of ladder belayed off the shoring scaffolding (there is no obvious natural belay).
This route includes the short pitch referred to in Northern Caves.

| The original, unstable, entrance route has been partially filled with boulders and should not be used. Gaps have been left through the boulders for use by the bats, which roost underground. |
