Join The Club

The Club has a straight-forward route into membership which is applied with all applicants regardless of their caving experience. This is because we believe it allows applicants to get to know us as well as the other way round.

The Club runs regular official meets which members take it in turn to lead.  There is a meets programme announced each November and then published in January for the year in question. See the Meets pages to view the programme for this year.

Anyone who applies for prospective membership must attend at least four underground meets during their six months prospective membership.  At any time after completing the minimum of four meets they may apply for full membership after obtaining the signatures of two existing full members to propose and second them.  The members would be expected to have been underground with you and to have formed some opinion on your caving competence.  If either of them happened to also be members of the Committee then they would be able to speak in favour of your application when it was placed before the Committee.

The Club Meets are held on ladder unless specified as SRT meets on the meets card.  There are also many other trips, both sporting and digging, which are not formally scheduled but are arranged from the Club Cottages in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

As a prospective member you may use the Club Cottages in your own right rather than as a guest. Prospective members are not entitled to bring guests on club meets. Only full members are allowed to book out tackle. You will receive a copy of the CPC Record which is issued quarterly.

The Club will, where necessary, arrange caving insurance (which is in respect of legal liability for injury of or damaged property of third parties) for you through the British Caving Association (BCA). In the first instance this is at no cost to you. Please ask if you require details of this insurance.

Anyone wishing to join the club is asked to contact the Membership Secretary who will be happy to provide details of meets and indicate which are suitable for your experience.

The fee for Prospective Membership is £15.00 for a six-month period.  As stated above, you are expected to attend four underground meets during this time after which you can apply for full membership.  The annual subscription for full membership is £30.00.
